In its neutrality, fairness, and universality, sport represents a powerful catalyst for building a culture of peace and collective well-being through dialogue. Since its creation in 2007, Peace and Sport has been advocating worldwide for the unique power of sport to foster social bonds, empower youth, and cultivate peaceful coexistence among communities.
This belief is central to the role sport plays in achieving the Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals.
Indeed, sport has played a significant role in driving change in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, fostering a thriving, inclusive, dynamic, and vibrant society. In addition to hosting prestigious sport events and developing high-level athletes, the Kingdom's goal has been to promote community sports and create a healthy, active nation. With almost 70% of its population under the age of 35, sport can cultivate a widespread sense of belonging, inspiring future generations in the long run.
Under the theme "Sport is an answer for peace", the Peace and Sport Middle-East Forum, powered by the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC), will bring together international experts and local decision-makers from diverse backgrounds to demonstrate and define policies to deploy sport for transmitting positive values, attitudes and behaviours. The Peace and Sport Middle-East Forum 2023 in Riyadh will provide an exceptional platform for dialogue on peace through sport and for the strengthening and expansion of sustainable grassroots programs.
